Sourdough loaves
At Kapiti Delicious Doughs, we craft sourdough that's both traditional and extraordinary—light, fluffy loaves with thin, crispy crusts that deliver incredible flavor in every bite.
Our secret starts with a carefully tended sourdough starter, enhanced with rye flour for that perfect tangy note. We add a touch of wholemeal flour for substance and a splash of quality canola oil to keep the crumb soft and fresh for days. The result? A loaf that's satisfying without being heavy, complex without being complicated.
We give each loaf three full days to develop. No shortcuts, no rush. During this time, natural yeasts slowly ferment the dough, transforming the flours to make nutrients more available and easier to digest. It's the difference between mass-produced bread and something made with intention—bread that's as good for you as it tastes.

We will soon be bringing the bakery experience directly to your kitchen in the most wonderful way possible. Rather than selling finished loaves, we provide you with perfectly proofed and unbaked sourdough dough – the culmination of days of careful fermentation using our lovingly maintained active starter. This mature dough is chilled and ready for the final, most rewarding step: baking it fresh in your own oven, where you become part of the artisanal process.
There's something truly magical about sliding that final loaf into your home oven and watching it transform, filling your kitchen with the intoxicating aroma of baking sourdough – that distinctive, tangy scent that signals something extraordinary is happening. In 45 minutes, you'll pull out a golden, crusty loaf with the perfect crackling sound that only fresh-baked sourdough can make. This approach ensures you experience bread at its absolute peak: warm from the oven, with a crisp crust that yields to reveal the complex, holey crumb structure that makes sourdough so special.
